Calypso's Rage ~ 9

I forgot to write yesterday. Or to be more precise I forgot it was the day I normally write. That happens sometimes but I remembered as soon as I woke this morning so here it is.
Rose B.
Calypso's Rage
Nine
Kane laughed as we sat down with another set of drinks. Estella sat quietly while sawyer looked numb. The merchant hadn't followed us back into the pub and I doubted he would.
"Was it that amusing to see me work." I asked
"Aye, I never get tired of your work." Kane responded, "But Sawyers comments made it even better."
Sawyer looked up at me, "Did you have to break him so harshly."
Kane laughed again and I smiled, "Of course I am Caspian. I warned him to back off, just like I do to everyone who seeks something from me. He ignored my warning and this is what happened."
"But he didn't even know you were Caspian."
"That's the point lad," Kane responded, "Those that try to find him will have no place to start."
I nodded "Each pirate has there own persona, this is mine. Caspian is a pirate captain that is better left alone. He will be kind but to those that look down on him it will not end well."
Sawyer just stared at me, "So that's why you are call a puppeteer. You control from the background no one ever seeing who you are."
I smiled "I never thought of it like that."
Kane slapped Sawyer on the back almost making him spill his drink, "And now you know. Caspian is not a man who backs down from a challenge."
They drank into the night. Kane as usual became the most drunk. I offered to take him back to his ship while Estella said she would take care of Sawyer, who had passed out. I was half-way there when one of Kane's crew members found us.
He was a big man with dark skin, "Captain Caspian," He greeted me, "I'm sorry you have to deal with this sorry excuse of a man."
I laughed and he took his captains weight "If he was a better man he wouldn't be as good of a pirate."
"Aye, that be true. If you'll excuse me I need to get this guy back to his ship."
I nodded and watched him walk away. Smiling slightly, I headed for my own ship. It was quiet near the docks unlike the town. Although this was a town that accepted pirates, it was not a place safe to them. I kept one hand near my swords as I walked back to Calypso's Rage.
