Calypso's Rage ~ 28

I have been slowly working on this for the past couple weeks I'm glad it's finally done and that you guys have something new to read.

Calypso's Rage
Twenty-eight
Alexander looked at me a dark gleam in his eye, "Is there something special about Caspain's crew?"
I shugged, "You could say that. Caspian has hand picked them all. I don't think you could find men that love the sea more. None of them are likely to betray him as he is the one that allowed them to live their life on the sea."
    "And what about you?"
I smiled, "Interested in my story. Very well, Caspian was the one who saved me from the bonds of men."
Annice held out my ring, "Here's Caspian's ring."
I took it and did a small bow. "I should be on my way."
Annice nodded "I'll lead you to the door."
She led me out of the room and shut the door behind us.
"What were you thinking?" Annice whispered harshly
"Relax Annice, I met Alexander last night and it wold have been awkward to show up this morning as Caspian."
"Cass...why do you keep doing these things?" She muttered to herself
I shrugged, "He interests me. He sticks to his word even if it doesn't benefit him."
We arrived at the front door. "Cass, what did you say to him..." Annice's tone was slightly threatening.
I smiled "Not going to say."
She stared at me awestruck and I laughed as I opened the door.
My laugh brought her back to her senses "Fine but don't do anything unnecessary."
I winked at her and walked out of house. I kept walking as Cassidy until those in the house would no longer be able to see me. Then I ducked into the bushes and became Caspian again.

When I arrived back at my ship Jack looked at me suspicious. But I ignored him and yelled to the crew, "Alright you sea rats, lets get back to our fickle mistress."
They shouted back at me in joy and we quickly left port.

So sorry

I just realized that I haven't posted for a while. But I guess that's because my hands are tied with school and work. I made myself sick (mentally) because I was going (mentally) from work to school to work without a break from reality. Which is especially bad for me since I'm only halfway in reality normally.
Anyway I think I've figured out how to juggle my life.....probably.
Since it seems that I'm busy doing things on days I normally write I'm going to try and blog at some point during the week. The days may vary though.
That's all the time I have today but I felt the need to update you.

Calypso's Rage ~ 27

Calypso's Rage
Twenty-seven
The next morning I could tell the crew was itching to back on the seas. I smiled and Jack raised an eyebrow, "Something funny, Cass?"
I shrugged, "It's nice to see that they're all still sea rats."
He looked at the crew, "Thats how you picked them isn't it."
I smiled secretively, "I need one last thing from Annice then we can be off."
"Without your captain outfit?" He asked looking at my plain shirt and trousers.
"Well I can't wear it all the time" I said as I jumped from the ship.
Alexander's ship hadn't left yet but it seemed that Kade's and Estella's had. I walked to Annice's house ignoring the urge to wander around town. Once the house was in site I could hear the sounds of Annice conversing with Alexander. It would be to awkward to walk in after last night. So I undid the binding on my chest and fixed my hair in a different fashion.
After wrapping my binding around my arm under my sleeve I knocked on the door. Once again the butler opened the door and looked at me suspiciously.
I smiled, "I need to see Annice."
"She has visitors right now." He replied
"Oh that doesn't matter. She'll always want to see me."
He looked doubtful but he let me in and led me to where Annice was entertaining Alexander. Annice stopped speaking and every head turned to look at us.
"I told her you had guests but she said you would want to see her." The butler spoke
Annice nodded, "She was correct, Thank you."
He nodded and shut the door behind me.
"Hello, Annice its been awhile." I said
"What are you doing here Cassidy?" She asked tentatively
"Caspian needs his ring back." I responded
She looked at Alexander and his companions. Alexander's face was unreadable and his companions looked lost.
"Are you a part of Caspian's crew?" Johnathan asked
I shrugged, "Something like that. Though I've never worked on Calypso's Rage."
"Is Caspian leaving today?" Annice asked changing the subject
I nodded, "You know how Caspian and his crew gets when they've been ashore to long."
"Right, I should probably be more surprised at that he stayed ashore so long."

Calypso's Rage ~ 26

Calypso's Rage
Twenty-six
Since most of the crew was still gone it was easy to sneak aboard my own ship and change clothes. Sneaking off was a little bit harder since one of the men came back drunk with a friend. But I managed and started my search of bars.
I had walked around Vale as Cassidy before so most people just waved but there were some pirates that whistled and cat called. I found Alexander outside the third bar I searched. He looked rather sad and while I could tell he had been drinking it didn't look like he was drunk.
I sat down next to him careful about my skirt. "Normally people that go to bars don't sit outside."
He looked up at me, "And normally people don't come sit next to others sitting alone outside a bar."
I laughed, "You got me there. But what are you doing outside?"
He shrugged, "I guess you could say I wasn't a big fan of the atmosphere."
"Doesn't that mean you didn't drink enough."
That pulled a smile from him, "Who are you?"
I smiled mysteriously, "If we have a good conversation maybe I'll tell you."
"Does everyone one on this island with hold their name," He muttered
I raised an eyebrow, "Does it bother you that much?"
He sighed, "No. I made a bet with a man that I shouldn't have."
    "A pirate?"
He nodded with a slight smile, "A captain. I know I shouldn't have but...."
"Most pirate captains are alluring it helps make them stay captains. But there's one pirate captain in particular that seems to be able to get people to do what he wants without saying anything and even if its against their better judgement."
He looked at me curious, "Who is that."
I smiled, "Captain Caspian, Devil of the Sea. He's the one you made a bet with isn't he."
He sighed, "Yes. I noticed he was hiding something and ended up making a bet to see if I could figure it out."
I laughed, "Caspian has a lot of secrets. If you never specified which secret you planned to guess. You may as well keep guessing forever. Because you could guess one but he can always say its not the one your looking for."
    "That's true but I won't give up."
I raised an eyebrow. This man really was interesting. "So what do you plan to do?"
He shrugged, "I'll look for clues they won't be easy to find but I'll uncover all of Caspian's past if I have to."
I stood up and looked at the moon, "You're an interesting man Mr. Alexander, just like Caspian said you would be."
    "You work for Caspian?!"
I smiled and shrugged, "Let me offer you one piece of advice. You may have to dig up Caspian's past but you may not like what you find there. So much so that you may wish that you had never known. Despite his faults Caspian has his reasons for being mysterious. So you might want to think about if you really want to open a box that has been sealed."
I walked a couple feet away from him, "My name is Cassidy. I hope I get to talk to you again."
I moved away from him without looking back.

Calypso's Rage ~ 25

Calypso's Rage
Twenty-five
"It happened just once. Annice introduced a girl to me who was stubborn and determined. Annice never told me the girl's back story but it was obvious from the suspicion in her eyes that the world had not treated her kindly. She loved the pirate life so Annice wanted me to take her on my ship." Estella said
I was surprised, that was the most I had ever heard her say at once.
"Then why did she turn you down?" Sophia asked
Estella shrugged, "She never said, but there was fire in her eyes as she turned me down."
Arabella looked angry and I chuckled silently.
"What happened to her?" Sophia asked
"She changed her name and became her own captain." Estella replied
Sophia thought about this then turned to me, "Cass, I'm ready to return to Annice."
I smiled "Then let us go. I'll see you around Estella."
She nodded before returning to her ship with Arabella following.
"So what did you decide?" I asked
"As much as I love the pirate life. I think I will stay in this town. Are you angry?"
I shook my head, "Not at all. It's good to know your self well enough to know what you want."
I pulled out the box in my pocket and handed it to her. Curious she opened it to see a necklace covered in gems the colors of the sea. It suited her perfectly.
"You can't say that I don't know how to dress a woman anymore."
Tears filled her eyes and she hugged me. "Thank you."
I laughed and wiped away the tears, "Careful Sophia, you'll soak my shirt."
    She nodded and let go.
"The sun is about to set and I have other things to attend to." I pulled off a ring with a beautiful woman holding a C on it, "Take this and go back to Annice you should know the way from here. All pirates know anyone with allegiance to Caspian has this woman somewhere on them, it should prevent them form doing something stupid."
"Alright, but what does the woman stand for?"
I smiled, "My ship is call Calypso's Rage. The woman is the goddess Calypso and the C is for her name as well as mine. Now hurry and tell Annice about the clothing at the tailor. Annice will give me the ring back."
She nodded again and ran off. Once Sophia was out of site I walked to my ship. It was time to talk to Alexander but I needed to change first.

Calypso's Rage ~ 24

Calypso's Rage
Twenty-four
Estella's ship hadn't moved since the last time I saw it. Women moved around the ship deck cleaning and doing other preparations. They glanced at us but didn't say anything.
"This is Captain Estella's ship: The Night Maiden. You met Estella at Annice's house and as you can see Estella allows only female crew members."
"They don't seem to like you."
"You noticed." I smiled bitterly "The name Caspian has a lot of rumors attached to it. Several of them are about women so I am known as a player. This is the reason they don't like me, as well as they see me as shady, slippery, and mysterious. They tend to just ignore me but hate it if I'm on Estella's ship with out her accompanying me."
"No man is allowed on Night Maiden with out accompaniment, even other Captains." A woman said joining us.
The new woman had hard eyes and almost never smiled. She hated men especially me. Which was fine since the feeling was mutual.
"Ah," I said with a flat tone, "It's Estella's right hand, Arabella."
"Caspian, I see you haven't died yet."
I kept my face impassive, "And you still despise half of our species."
She snorted, "I'll never understand why Miss Estella is okay with you."
I raised an eyebrow, "Does it bother you that much." There were two reasons Estella didn't hate me but I wouldn't tell Arabella them.
"Um..." Sophia interjected, "How does Estella stop men from pretending to be women to come aboard."
Arabella sighed, "Miss Estella has a good eye for seeing people that are hiding things. She can spot pretenders easily."
I rolled my eyes, "Estella once caught a man that tried and almost killed him. No one has tried since. That being said there are a couple transgender girls in her crew."
"As long as you don't consider yourself male you can become part of our crew." Estella said appearing behind Arabella. "Most of the girls on this ship have a reason not to trust the male population and they all jumped at the offer to join my crew"
"Has there ever been anyone who denied becoming a part of your crew." Sophia asked
"No" Arabella said at the same time Estella replied, "Yes."
Arabella looked at Estella surprised, "I've never heard of this."
"That's because it happened before you joined."

Calypso's Rage ~ 23

Calypso's Rage
Twenty-three
"So is there anything you would like to see first?" I asked
She looked around the bustling town. Her eyes never staying on one thing for to long. "It's amazing."
I smiled, "Then lets start with the shops."
I lead her towards the street where permanent shops and little stalls were selling their wares. We looked at everything from food to trinkets. Once we were about ready to move on I saw her gazing at a necklace next to a tailor shop.
"Alright before we leave lets get you some clothing." I said
She looked confused as we walked into the tailor shop. "But.."
I raised an eyebrow, "You are going to need some of your own clothes you know."
I left her with a tailor and went back to the necklace she was looking at. It was an elegant green necklace but wouldn't be something that would suit her. I looked around at the jewelry in the shop and finally saw the one that I wanted.
The woman working in the shop was more than happy to help me with the necklace I wanted. Though I suspect it had less to do with me buying something and more to do with the affect Caspian had on women.
When I went back to the tailors they were already done taking her measurements and told us to come back later to pick up the clothes.
"How was the tailor?" I asked
She gave me a small glare
I smiled, "That terrible." she didn't respond so I continued talking, "You'll see a lot of pirates here since Annice is much more accepting of us. But we still have to be careful there are somethings Annice can't do even though this is her town."
She nodded, "Do you come here often."
"Yes, this is the best place to go if I'm bringing my crew with me. The people on land don't mind the pirates as long as they don't do anything."
She looked at a people around us. A pirate was bargaining with a vendor, a couple was quarreling in front of a bar. "It's amazing."
"But everyone has to work, even the pirates. Come on I'll show you."
We left the town behind and walked towards the dock.

Calypso's Rage ~ 22

Things have not slowed down but I believe I'm becoming use to it. Enjoy.
Rose B.
Calypso's Rage
Twenty-two
Annice sighed, "Anyway it seems our discussion is over. Good day gentlemen."
She left the room and I followed, "You haven't said what you need from me."
"True. I need you to show the girl around let her see the life she could have on land and on the sea. It's only fair seeing as you brought her here."
I nodded and Annice stopped in front of a door. She knocked and someone told us to come in. Inside the room was the maid from before standing off to the side and Sophia dressed in a better dress then the one I had lent her. She was to busy staring in a mirror to notice our arrival.
I raised an eyebrow, "That dress suits you, Sophia."
She jumped and her face turned red. Annice rolled her eyes, "I'm glad we could find you something proper to wear."
    "Hay," I growled.
"Don't blame Cass," Sophia said, "It's not his fault he doesn't know how to dress a woman."
Annice looked at me and I glared at her. She chuckled and turned back to Sophia, "Anyway, Caspian is going to show you how my town works. As well as introduce you to a band of female pirates."
    Sophia's eyes glittered, "Really."
I nodded, "I'll be waiting by the front door so hurry and finish getting ready."
Annice shut the door and we walked to the front door.
"You are going to return my clothing, right." I said
Annice nodded, "Even if it isn't very proper, you barely have any girl clothes as it is."
I snorted, "Thanks for the kind works."
She laughed, "Alexander was asking about you while you were gone."
"Oh, and what did he say."
"He just wanted more information. I believe it was for your bet."
I smiled, "Maybe I should pay him a visit."
"Cas-" Annice started but was stopped by Sophia coming into ear shot.
"Do I look alright?" She asked
I nodded, "Of course, shall we go."
Her head bobbed quick enough to almost dislodge her hat. We walked out the door leaving Annice behind.

Rambling

So sorry i was unable to post this week. I have been busy trying to get things prepared for the next year of school. It was really quite hectic. But things should return to normal soon. Well not for Caspian I doubt his life is ever normal and I think he likes it that way. It's interesting having a character like Cass since I never know whether to say "him" or "her". In some ways I see them as to different people but I also see them carrying aspects of each other showing that they are the same person......
Anyway enough of my musings. If I talked to much I might slip and accidentally give away something. Of course I wouldn't know it at the time since I more of a spontaneous writer. Though I do outlines when the story dictates it. But for those of you who are like me in answer to the theory starting in your brain: Yes, Caspian and Cassidy are the same person. Yes, Cass's gender is female. If Caspian had been a real person, the situation probably would have been something like Mary Read's (if you can't read that text because of the font go here) with Caspian some how causing Cassidy to become a pirate. But I can promise that didn't happen because I already know Cass' past.
Shoot I rambled again. Sorry. I should probably end this post soon so...I hope you are enjoying Calypso's Rage. Feel free to comment I'm ok with talking about my work or even take suggestions as to how to improve my writing.

Calypso's Rage ~ 21

Calypso's Rage
Twenty-one
I shrugged, "I would think not."
"Then what is it really?" Annice wondered
No one said anything and we sat in silence for a long moment. It was Kane that finally broke the tension.
"Well I have places I have to be." He said as he stood up.
Estella nodded and followed him out of the room. Once the door was shut I looked at Annice.
"Do you need my help with anything else, Lady."
She rolled her eyes, "Every time you say my title it sounds like a sneer."
I smiled cockily, "It's suppose to."
She shook her head, "Of course how could I forget. The great Caspian sneers at all titles but his own."
I did an overly grand bow but before I say anything a squeal rang from the house. We all looked at the door.
"I can't tell if she is happy or frightened." Alexander said
"Probably both." Annice muttered, "Caspian you brought the girl here your going to have to take some responsibility."
"Very well but I hope you not planning to have me take her aboard my ship."
She waved away my comment, "No. If she want's to join the pirate life I would put her on Estella's ship."
"Why can't she join your ship?" Alexander asked
I raised an eyebrow, "I'm surprised Mr. Alexander. I thought you would have guessed that your self. There is not a single girl among my crew and while I can promise they won't do anything, I can't vouch for how comfortable she would be. I gave her my quarters when we came here but I can't do that all the time."
He looked a little disappointed and slightly upset, "I knew that I just thought there would be a deeper reason."
"Be careful Mr. Alexander. If you look to deep into Caspian's mind you might not come out the same." Annice commented, "Don't forget he is still a captain of a pirate ship. He is just a ruthless as most pirates but a great deal more cunning."
The three of them looked at me. I smiled and wiggled my eyebrows.

Calypso's Rage ~ 20

Calypso's Rage
Twenty
The maid left with Sophia. And once the door was closed Annice said, "I was really quiet surprised when you brought a girl and that you allowed her to call you Cass. But it makes sense if she was with Garrison."
My expression darkened and I glared first at Annice then at Alexander and his crew, "The debt you owe me is now twice as big."
Annice sighed but Alexander obviously concerned asked "What happened."
I collapsed into a chair "Garrison is an ugly creep determined to add me to his...collection."
Annice rolled her eyes "Oh Caspian enough with the drama."
"Annice," Estella said looking at me, "He's not being dramatic."
Annice studied my expression and I glowered at her, "I swear I had my gun cocked and I was so close to killing him."
Alexander's concern hadn't gone anywhere, "This man must be something if he can cause Caspian to act like this."
I snorted "You become the new obsession for a greedy man that knows no boundaries and will stop at nothing to possess whatever catches his eye in his clammy grasp. You do that and let me know when I can stop visiting his island."
"So he threatened you." Annice said
I barked out a laughter "He doesn't have the guts. His exact word were "What I wouldn't give to have you." I always knew but it's not nice to hear it from his mouth."
Annice's lips tightened, "It frustrates me that I can't do anything to that man."
I sighed and rested against the wall behind me, "I would kill him but it would be to big of a hassle to deal with the aftermath."
Estella nodded and Annice asked, "Well did you learn anything helpful from him."
"He said Navy ships weren't the only ones going missing."
"Just the only ones anyone cares about." Kane snorted
Alexander coughed to hide his embarrassment and I continued, "Anyway, he talked to a witness of one of the attacks. According to the witness there was a storm that swallowed the ship. There was the ship then a storm came and when the storm vanished the ship was gone."
Alexander pondered this and Kane sighed, "That makes things difficult, I've never heard of a ship that's out run a storm."
I nodded, "The way he said it made it seem like it wasn't a normal storm. He didn't say that the storm moved off like others do and it sounded like it was quick and violent."
"So it's not a normal storm." Alexander said

Calypso's Rage ~ 19

Calypso's Rage
Nineteen
When Sophia appeared on deck it was still morning but the crew had already left to continue playing around on solid land. She was dressed in the same things I had loaned her yesterday but it didn't look like she had slept in them.
"How did you sleep Ms. Sophia." I asked offering my arm
"Well, thank you for lending me your room, Mr. Caspian."
I escorted her off the ship "That reminds me, I tend to keep my name quiet so it would be best if you don't call me Caspian in a big crowd."
She nodded, "Of course Caspian has a reputation to uphold doesn't he."
Surprised, I laughed startling her, "Sorry, your answer is correct I was just not expecting it. Please call me Cass as all of my friends do."
She smiled happily, "Very well. Now where is this woman you need to meet."
I lead Sophia up to Annice's house. Explaining who Annice was after she said that she barely knew anything about higher class people. I knocked on the door and once again the haughty man answered. He lead us up to a room where Annice was waiting. When we stepped into the room I saw that the men from last night as well as Estella and Kane were there.
They continued with whatever they had been doing before I arrive until Estella asked, "Who's the girl?"
Everyone turned to me. Kane and Annice looked shocked. The men were just surprised while Estella just took everything in stride.
"Everyone this is Sophia. The two pirates over there are Captain Estella and Captain Kane. The woman over there is Lady Annice." I introduced
Sophia curtseyed, "It is a pleasure to meet you, my name is Sophia."
Annice stared at me bewildered before remembering her manners and saying "I am glad I could meet you but..." Annice stopped speaking not sure what to say
Sophia straightened, "Cass rescued me and he said that you could help me."
"Cass? Rescued?" Annice repeated as everyone turned to me
I sighed, "Garrison has a tendency to collect souvenirs or trophies. Though they aren't normal in any sense. He likes to show off new ones to me to see me react."
"And she was the newest trophy." Estella said
Alexander looked at the girl shocked. Sophia's eyes hardened and she nodded bitterly. Annice swept up the girl and hugged her.
"Oh you poor dear." Annice cooed, "And your so thin. That does it." Annice rang a bell and a maid appeared, "We're going to get you clean and fed."

4th of July

Today is the fourth of July or Independence Day for those us living in America. My family is probably going to do something that I need to attend and I am also attending my first Con (began yesterday and goes through tomorrow). So I will provide you with a poem to read and then we can continue our day/weekend activities.
Rose B.

Blue light filters through my window
In the mornings
The smell of SPF 75 and Aloe
Follow me around
The Cold is replaced by Hot
But the complaint remains
Thick coats are put away
Bathing suits are dusted off
All of this signals the beginning
Of the lemonade days
Of the parasol months
This is the beginning of summer

Calypso's Rage ~ 18

Calypso's Rage
Eighteen
Once she was properly dressed I took her back up on to the deck. She stared amazed at the sea colored by the sunset, "Its lovely."
I smiled and started to sing: "Come all you young sailor men, listen to me,
And I'll sing you a song of the fish in the sea.
And it's-"
The rest of the crew joined in: "Windy weather, boys, stormy weather, boys.
When the wind blows, we're all together, boys
Blow ye winds westerly, blow ye winds, blow
Jolly sou'wester, boys, steady she goes."
The girl watched with shining eyes as someone else started up the next verse:
"Up jumps the eel with his slippery tail,
Climbs up aloft and reefs the top sail."
I smiled at the girl as everyone continued the shanty, "You seem to enjoy the sea."
She nodded, "I love the sea and the feeling of a happy ship is one of my favorites. Though I've only seen something like this while at sea on a pirate ship."
"Pirates are often like this. We are people that live how we wish and regret nothing."
    "Well said Captain Caspian."
"You know I don't think its very fair that you know my name and I don't know yours."
    She chuckled, "I'm Sophia."
"I'm amazed a girl can have so many beautiful things."
    She blushed again "Thank you."
"We are heading to a port that is known to have pirates. I need to meet with the meet with the woman in charge of the town tomorrow morning. She may be able to help you with whatever you need or you can leave once we reach port."
The sun vanished beneath the horizon and I looked up at the stars. She didn't say anything so I added, "You don't have to have an answer until we reach port. For now you can sleep in my cabin I just request you don't dig through my things to much."
She laughed quietly then asked, "But then where will you sleep?"
I smiled, "Not everyone can sleep, someone has to watch the ship."
She thought about it then nodded and went back to my cabin. I turned back to the sea as most of the crew went to their own beds. We reached port before the night was through. Once we had docked the rest of the crew went to bed. But I stayed on deck mostly because I was unable to sleep with the thoughts of my visit to Garrison in my head.
