Kat grumbles as knocking pulls her from sleep. She throws off the sheets and stomps over to the door. On the other side, a man in a suit is waiting.
Chills run down Kat's spine as she greets the man, "Hello, Magnus."
He smiles and steps into the room, "Good morning."
"How long have you been back?" Kat asks, ignoring the instinct telling her to run.
    "Not very long."
"Is there something that you needed? I'm about to go back out into the field."
"I heard you were one of the teams looking for the Queen."
    Kat watches him carefully, "Yes."
"Do you have an idea of where she is?"
    "Not really," Kat lies.
"Oh," He seems disappointed, "Well, I figured since you're one of the best hunters that we have, that you would be the one to find her."
"I'm sorry to disappoint you," Kat replies.
He chuckles, "Don't worry, I still expect great things from you."
He leaves, and Cade enters muttering, "I don't like him."
Kat nods in agreement, "What did you need?"
"Adalia came by and told me that she was asked to do another job so we will be on our own today," Cade says.
Kat sighs, "Alright, let's get going then."

Purple Moon (HM34)

Purple Moon
Half Moon 34

Kat spreads out the map, that she and Cade used before, on the table in her room. And points at two big clusters of dots "These are the two cities we checked out."

Adalia looks at the land south of the first cluster. "That's a lot of area to cover."

Cade comes over with a bunch of yellow dots and places them over the map. "These are places that hunters frequently visit and settlements."

Kat watches him put the dots down, "Grab a pen I want to mark all the trade routes."

He pulls out a pen, and she creates lines moving around the map connecting dots and clusters, "There, all routes that are normally used by people, hunters included, are marked."

Cade studies the map, "Well, she can't be anywhere near the City, there's too many people coming in and out."

"The City is north of the first place we visited, and if the old documents are to be believed, she wouldn't be there anyway," Adalia replies.

"Either way, there aren't many places where she could be hiding," Kat adds.

Cade nods, "The farther away from the City you go, the more places there would be to hide"

"But she plans to take down the City she wouldn't be in the East. It takes to long to get here from there," Kat points out.

"So she's not in the South East, but that still gives us a lot of places to look," Adalia sighs.

"And we don't have time to check them all," Cade says.

Kat stares at the map, "For the moment, let's focus our search to the south of the first town."

Cade nods, "But let's start looking in the morning. It's late, and I'm tired."

Kat rolls her eyes and shows them out the door. After taking a couple meds, she looks out the huge window to the city below. People moved around ignoring each other. Beyond the people was a wall that surrounded the City. Kat couldn't see anything beyond the wall except the dark night sky, but she knew from experience the land was desolate.

Kat sighs and closes her eyes. Her mind ventures back to her childhood, and she can hear her mom's sweet voice singing the lullaby that often sent her off to dreamland when she couldn't sleep. As the voice faded and silence once again returns, Kat opens her mouth and sings,

"In the No Moon,

Blood has its greatest chance.

Then comes the Crescent Moon,

To begin the cycle.

The Half Moon is next,

And what is lost starts to return.

Last of all is the Full Moon,

Showing the scales have changed."

Purple Moon (HM33)

Short one today sorry. I have stuff I have to do before the second season premier of Legend of Korra.

Kat descends into the hole and looks around.
"What do you think happened?" Cade comments,
Kat shakes her head, "Do you think that we will be able to find anything?"
Adalia shrugs, "I doubt it, no one has come through here, but the elements have probably done some damage."
Cade nods in agreement, and Kat sighs, "So south is our only clue."
Adalia's dogs start sniffing around as Adalia replies, "There are a lot of things south of here."
Cade thinks for a moment then says, "Maybe but if she laid low this long, she can't be anywhere where someone can easily find her."
Kat agrees, "She wouldn't be places where hunters frequently visit; otherwise, we would have found her long ago."
"So someplace the hunters haven't targeted before," Adalia asks.
"Or where they haven't returned from," Cade adds.
"We need to go back to the City. I didn't bring a map, and we don't have enough supplies to check around everywhere."
Adalia's dogs wander back carrying a piece of metal. Adalia raises an eyebrow and takes it. The metal looked sturdy, but one edge was charred, and only the flat sides were smooth. Adalia passes it to Cade.
"Looks like an explosion tore this off of whatever it was on. It might be why there is no longer a town." He comments.
They climb out of the hole and Kat takes one last look around at the leveled buildings. Adalia comes to stand beside her and says, "I think I liked the other town better."
Kat nods, "Hay Cade, does it seem to you that the Alterations are avoiding the towns we went to?"
Cade thinks about it, "Maybe, but I can say for certain that there is something off about them."
They head back to the bikes and head for home.

Purple Moon (HM32)

Purple Moon
Half Moon 32
She ignores the eyes of the unimportant watchers, and looks to the window. Her body hums with energy as the moon rises. Her cells buzz as the moon peaks through the window. She waits as it slowly raises its head. Once it comes into full view, she recognizes what it is.
"Full Moon," She whispers in a soft voice.
She hears the sound of the frantic footsteps as the watchers panic, but she continues to stare at the moon.
"It is time," It whispers back.
She smiles, her cells jump with excitement, and she closes her eyes. When she opens them again, her body is calm, and her face is in blank expression. She stares at the glass and her body heats up for a brief moment. The glass cracks then explodes outwards with the water following it.
She steps out of the tank, and cool air touches her delicate skin. Her long hair shimmers with energy as it moves like she is still underwater. The watchers stare and her with fear, but she continues to ignore them as the other tanks explode. The water swirls around her as she walks off with her bare feet, never touching the ground.
Kat jolts awake, breathing hard. The night sky calmly shines overhead as Cade and Adalia sleep. Adalia's dogs glance in Kat's direction before turning back to look at the wilderness. Her head is throbbing, but she doesn't have any pain medication, so she tries to bear with it.
Her thoughts turn back to the dream, but it is so vague she only has the faint feeling that something exploded. Cade rolls over and looks at Kat before sitting up.
    "Bad dream?" He asks.
Kat shrugs, "I can't really remember it."
He studies her before saying, "You should get that checked, it's not normal to have so many."
"I'm fine; it's not interfering with our work."
"But what if it does one day right in the middle of a job."
Kat glares at him, and he puts his hands up in surrender. The sky starts to brighten as Kat says, "Wake up Adalia the sooner we get there, the better."
Cade shakes Adalia awake, and they pack everything up. They get on their bikes and start driving. After a couple hours, Kat's glasses beep at her.
"We're here!" She shouts, stopping her bike.
"What you mean we're here, there's nothing around," Cade replies.
Kat looks around at the deserted landscape before checking her glasses, "Well it says we're on the outskirts."
They get off their bikes, and Adalia comments, "The air around this place is the same as the one before."
Kat nods getting the same impression.
"Guys," Cade calls from farther up ahead, "I found our town, if that's what you can call it."
Kat and Adalia join him and don't realize what they are supposed to be looking at until they look down. Floors are now a place for struggling plant life and what use to be walls, only stubs poking through the ground. Off to one side, a hole the shape and size of a huge building dominated the landscape.
"Well now we know why it was never mentioned," Cade sighs as Adalia and Kat take it in.
