Purple Moon (HM10)

Happy Easter weekend everyone. I saw the Host and bought myself some new shirts.
Since I am running around so much today this is all I can post. I have to admit that this is one of my favorite parts just because of the irony. Hope you all enjoy reading this as much as I enjoy creating it. Although I do struggle with some of the wording but hopefully you can't tell where that is. Please continue to read and comment. I can't improve if you don't tell me the mistakes I am making.

Kat sighs and sets down the tea tray on a table in the parlor. Cade vanished with Heath, and now it was just her, at least until her guests came. Kat considers asking Patty about her husband behavior but decides its unimportant unless it got in the way of their assignment.
Kat is about to sit down when the doorbell rings. Waiting for her at the door are five women. Patty is closest to the door, so she is the one Kat greets. "You have good timing I just put out the tea."
Patty smiles and leads the other women to the parlor leaving Kat to close the door after them. Once Kat joined them, Patty introduced her to everyone. The tall sweet-looking woman is Annice, the short fierce-eyed one is Emely, the youngest one is Aadi, and the straight-faced strict-looking one is Behitha.
Kat could tell she had already won over two of them, but Behitha was going to need some convincing, "It is a pleasure to meet you all."
"Patty tells us you use to be a tutor before you came here," Annice says.
"Yes, my brother is lazy, so I was the one who worked even though it was against my mother's wishes. But then the doctor said I should take it easy and my brother whisked me off to this place, determined that I should do nothing but sit around all day. Luckily Patty's husband took him somewhere today, so I can freely tell you about how I miss working."
Patty giggles, "You make Claude sound like a tyrant."
Kat smiles, "I don't think Claudius could be a tyrant to save his life. He's just a huge pain in my side, always has been."
    The girls laugh.
"That's how brothers are," Emely comments.
They start into a conversation about brothers and Kat lets them talk only commenting when she has to. She notices that Behitha isn't participating either. Instead, she is looking at the swords on the mantle.
    "You enjoy weapons?" Kat asks.
The woman looks at her, "My father was a smith. I use to help him with his work, so I know a good weapon when I see one."
"Then you know what those are?"
"Yes, they're twin swords. Forged together, sharpened together, fought together. Almost identical in every aspect. I doubt there are many swords similar to them."
Kat was aware that the other women were also listening. She stands up and picks up one of her swords. She passes it to Behitha, who takes it with great care.
She looks at it with a skilled eye, "Amazing. Whoever made this was extremely skilled. I can't see a single flaw. It has also been cared for well. Whose was this?"
"My mother's. When she died, they came to me. She was very skilled with the sword, and she taught me everything she knew. I can tell you that they had been bathed in blood many times before I inherited them." Kat takes the sword back and puts it where it was before.
"I had no idea your family was skilled with weapons," Patty says, "Why were they?"
Kat smiles, "My mother was a hunter. She wanted to make sure we could protect ourselves."
    The room went silent.

Patty arrives early like Kat expected she would, "Is your brother okay with this."
Kat nods, leading her to the kitchen where she had been chopping vegetables, "Claudius agreed with me, especially when I mentioned you would come to help."
Patty giggles and starts a pot of water boiling. Once Patty was comfortable in the kitchen, Kat fakes lightheadedness and gives all the work to Patty while she sits at the island and sips tea.
"I was talking to a bunch of my friends today about how you did tutor work. They mentioned how some of there kids needed help in some subject or another. They want to meet you, would tomorrow be ok?"
"That will be fine," Kat responds.
"Great, we come around tea time."
Kat agrees with a nod, "I do hope your friends have some stories to tell. Life can get rather boring when you're not doing anything."
Patty giggles again, "I know exactly what you mean. Don't worry, the girls around here live for gossip."
They talked about meaningless things until the dinner was made, then she excused herself to get prepared. Kat sighs once she is gone then goes to ready herself. She finds Cade in the sitting room.
"How did the preparations go," He asks.
Kat sighs, "According to Patty, the women around here live for gossip. I may be able to get information from them."
He nods, and she turns to leave then remembers what Patty said and says, "Patty said that she had to get ready that means we will have to get dressed up too."
He groans and Kat leaves before he can say anything. Kat dresses in a purple dress that showed off the moon on her shoulder blade and matched her piercing eyes. She ignored the jewelry Adalia had packed to go with the dress and went to find Cade.
She found him downstairs in a suit arranging the dining table, "Decided to help have you?"
He shrugs and the table is set just in time for Heath and Patty to show up. They sit down at the table and eat. Cade praises Patty for her cooking and Kat just smiles. She notices from the corner of her eye that Heath was watching her whenever his wife wasn't looking. He didn't say anything, and she didn't ask. Dinner went smoothly, and Kat and Cade showed their guests out.
"He definitely is up to something," Cade says.
    Kat nods in response.

Purple Moon (HM8)

Purple Moon
Half Moon 8
When Kat wakes, Cade is not back, and her headache is gone. She dresses in what Adalia would consider would be a proper day clothing: a red corset shirt with capped sleeves and a red-violet long skirt. She goes downstairs to the study and sits down at the piano. She plays a song from memory one she didn't know she knew until notes appeared in her head. The tune was gentle but strong, there was a tinge of sadness mixed in with the beautiful song. She easily lost herself in the melody and didn't realize someone had entered and was listening until they started clapping.
She jumps slightly and then smiles when she sees its Heath.
"I'm sorry, I knocked, but no one answered so I just let myself in," He says apologetically.
"That's alright; you just startled me." Kat stands, "What can I do for you, Mr. Walker?"
Kat notices that he's nervous, "Well, my wife wanted to know if you and your brother wanted to come to dinner tonight. She said she knows that he doesn't like you to cook so..."
He trails off, and Kat smiles sure that there was more to the invitation. "Thank you for the invite, but it just wouldn't be right if you didn't have dinner here first. If she wants to have dinner tonight, I can whip something up she can even help me if she wants to."
He nods, and she shows him out before making a little tea. Soon after Heath leaves Cade comes back. She pours him some tea, and they move into the upstairs sitting room. She notices he has a paper from the City.
    "How is the town."
"Small, I have yet to hear of any gossip or rumors about an Alteration."
"They should turn up soon enough. We are living in a house that once belonged to one of its victims. I don't think the town wants to tell us just yet."
He sighs, "It's quite boring here."
Kat raises an eyebrow, "I am surprised that you would say that, it's not like you do anything at home. But you have a point compared to hunting this life is slow and dull."
He opens the paper, "There haven't been any more Alteration attacks, and they haven't told the public that there are Alterations that speak."
"They wouldn't want to cause a panic. By the way, Heath came over."
    "What did he want?"
She shrugs, "He said he came over to invite us to dinner, but I doubt that was his real reason."
Cade nods, only half listening, "So what did you say?"
"I said no then invited them for dinner if Patty comes early I'll dump most of the work on her. The only I know how to make is City food, and we are supposed to have never seen the City."
He nods again, "Alright, the sooner we get in this community, the sooner we can leave."
Kat agrees with a grunt, "I suppose I should start on the food before I have to change into one of those horrid evening dresses. I can never understand why people must wear so many outfits in one day."
Cade chuckles then says sarcastically, "But you look so lovely in those gowns."
Kat glares at him, "You look like a puffed-up bird in yours."
He stops smiling, thinking about wearing his evening attire, "It's only one family, maybe we shouldn't wear them we wouldn't want to look over fancy."
Kat agrees then leaves to start food before either one of them could rethink their choice.

Purple Moon(HM7)

Purple Moon
Half Moon 7
Kat woke at sunrise with a headache. She sighs and dresses in the simplest clothing she can find, a long skirt and a shirt Adalia instructed her to put under a corset. Kat then walks to the bathroom and grabs some headache meds as well as downing the fake meds that were supposed to help her weak health. She assumes Cade is still asleep and goes downstairs to fix breakfast. Halfway through her the cooking process, Cade walks in groggy but dressed.
"I thought you weren't allowed cook," He comments.
She rolls her eyes, "I can't do nothing. I would go crazy if I did and besides cooking isn't that taxing."
"Did you take your meds?" He replies, conceding the argument and sits at the island.
    "Yes, the headache ones too."
    "They're back."
She shrugs and puts the breakfast onto two plates. Cade spotting the food snatches a plate. Kat glares at him before bringing her own food to the island.
"Do you suppose that they have a newspaper from the City," Cade asks munching on eggs.
"You can go check when you go look for jobs," Kat replies.
He sighs, "I was hoping to wait."
Kat gives him a sharp look, "I can't work, and we need to pay for expenses somehow, Claudius."
He sighs again and mutters, "Always the slave driver."
Kat glares at him, "Did you say something?"
    He shakes his head, "Nope."
She stands and grabs his half-eaten food and takes both plates to the sink. She opens her mouth just as the doorbell rings. Cade looks at the doorway then back to Kat. The ring sounds again, and Kat nods her head. Cade stands and heads for the door with Kat following.
The woman who was ringing the doorbell was a shorter woman with girlish features. Cade and Kat were surprised to see her, but the woman doesn't seem to notice.
"You must be Claudius," She beams.
"Please call me Claude, only my sister calls me by my full name." He pauses before continuing, "May I ask who I am introducing myself too."
"Oh, of course, stupid me, I forgot to tell you my name. I'm Patty, Heath's wife."
Kat nudges Cade, and he opens the door a little wider to let her in. Patty enters the house and Kat leads her to the Parlor.
"You'll have to excuse my appearance," Kat says with a smile, "I didn't know I would be having guests."
"That's quite alright. Heath told me about your health."
Patty sits down on the couch, and Kat sits in a chair, "Claudius, could you get our guest some water."
Cade nods and leaves once he is gone Patty says, "I must say that I wasn't expecting your brother to be here I thought he would be at work."
Kat sighs, "Truthfully Claudius has never worked a day in his life. I was the one supporting us until the doctor said I should take it easy and my dear brother takes that to mean I shouldn't do anything. He didn't even want me to cook breakfast."
Patty giggles, "How peculiar. So what did you do before."
"I tutored kids, and I miss it so much. Of course, I can't do it full time anymore with my health, but I can't convince Claudius to at least let me help kids who need a little extra."
    "That's too bad."
Cade comes in with sparing Kat from having to continue the conversation. He offers her water, but she declines saying she only came for a chat and to see her new neighbors. They show her out, and once the door closes Kat says, "I'm going to nap go out and explore the town while I do." He nods, and she adds just before leaving, "and see if you can find a job."

Purple Moon extra

So I drew the house that Kat and Cade would be staying in so you can have a visual reference and in case I forget to describe the rooms.
I was planning to do this earlier in the week but my stupid tablet wouldn't upload the picture so I had to got through the computer. I hope you understand the symbols and I made it colorful so you could see it better.

Purple Moon(HM6)

Sorry this one is coming out so late I was reading and forgot about blogging until 8:30. Thanks for reading

Purple Moon
Half Moon 6
Kat sits in the carriage next to Cade hating the bumpy ride almost as much as her wardrobe for the undercover work. It was made up of all dresses or skirt, and all of the tops had a corset-like design. Cade wasn't much better he was stuck with wearing tailcoats, vests, dress pants, and formal shirts. The only exception was the work clothes packed deep into a trunk.
Kat sighs, Cade looks at her and asks, "Another headache?"
Kat shakes her head. All through the week of preparation, she had been having head-splitting migraines, but they seemed to have calmed down now that they were moving.
"That's good if the only brain being used in this team were unusable we would have to go back to the City," Cade replies with his usual attitude.
Kat scowls at him but doesn't get to reply because the carriage stops. The door opens, and Cade steps out before helping Kat. The town around them looks like an average country outpost with houses and shops bunched close together as if trying to protect its inhabitants from the dangers of the wilderness.
"It is as I told you, sister, perfect for what is ailing you," Cade says, getting right into character.
"I told you that I was fine you didn't have to come out here with me."
"Nonsense. Mother would be furious if I didn't take care of you."
Kat smiles a bit sarcastically, "All ways the prince even after there is no one to pat you for your good deeds."
Cade puts a hand to his chest in mock offense, "That hurt."
"It was supposed to," Kat replies and starts unloading bags.
Just like they rehearsed Cade orders her to go into the house. After a premade argument, Kat begrudgingly agrees. Once inside, she starts putting things away and scoping out the building. It wasn't very big, but there were plenty of nooks and crannies to hide weapons in. She starts working on the parlor when Cade comes in with another man.
"I thought I told you to stop working," Cade scolds her.
She snorts, "I am a woman I can't entertain guests without the house in order. But clearly, you expect me to do so."
The other man laughs a deep, hearty sound, "Do not worry. I only came to help unpack you do not need to prepare anything for me. I am Heath, by the way, Heath Walker."
"Pleasure to meet you, I am Katrina Maddox. I see you have already met my brother Claudius," Kat says with a bow.
Heath helps with the unpacking and putting everything where Kat assigns them to go. Cade takes the trunk of weapons up to his room before their guest can touch it, and when they are done, Kat invites him to stay for dinner. He politely declines, claiming his wife would be mad if she weren't there for the first dinner with their neighbors.
Once he is gone, Cade puts weapons in various places around the house. All are easily accessible, but some were more visible than others. The most visible being Kat's twin swords hanging above the fireplace in the parlor.
With the various things in place, the two hunters retreat to their rooms for the night.
