Halloween Special - Short Story

Happy Halloween everyone I hope you enjoy a fantastical evening filled with frights, sweets or maybe even both. Today I am doing a short story since I am busy doing things, maybe if I get done quick enough I will add another one. Enjoy!

The Empty House

    At the end of our block sits an empty house. Its made of dark wood that hasn't been painted for a while. The lawn is brown and weeds have spread into the cracks of the concrete. Parents always tell there kids to stay away from the house but sneaking into the empty house was the best test of courage a kid could ask for.  It was considered especially brave to go on Halloween night when the house was rumored to no longer be empty.
    From the outside it looks the same as always but if you go in it is not the same at all. The lights will be on and the house decorated like it was when it was in use. It is said that if you enter you not only get to see what it use to look like but you will get to meet the old residents.
    But beware that you don't stay to long and get caught in the trap. For everything you see in that house is an illusion and not all of those that died want to say that way. They will try everything they can to be living again even kidnap a body.
    So if you do go in on Halloween make sure that you come back out. Because you might become the newest resident of that illusion.

Halloween Special - Pantoum

I'm doing a Halloween special for the next three days and up first is a pantoum (I think I spelled that wrong). I don't plan on doing specials for every holiday but if there are holidays you want me to do tell me and I will do to them.

We have moved on to the Full Moon section the final one. I hope I'm able to wrap things up well.

Full Moon 1

Full Moon, The scales change 

    "I was normal once, I had a boyfriend and was perfectly happy. Then they showed up." The Queen growled, "They took me from my home, right out of the arms of my boyfriend. My happy life ended that day, and a new terror began.

    "It was all for the sake of their special project. For that, I would never see my loved ones again. I was turned into a freak for an experiment. I wasn't the only one, neither was I the first to be sacrificed for that project. They didn't say a thing about us until their experiment backfired and we escaped. But even then they didn't tell the truth, they told you a lie that has become the truth. That we are monsters that need to be hunted."

    Kat's presses her hand to her skull as the pain becomes more than she can bear, but Cade doesn't notice because his attention is focused on the Alteration.

    As the Queen continues ranting Kat tries to remain focused, "You follow them blindly, like the good little dogs you're supposed to be. It's never once occurred to you that the people that turned me into this make up the precious council of yours."

    "You lie!" Cade shout.

    The Alteration laughs, a high pitched sound full of insanity, "No hunter, I wouldn't lie about this," Her eyes turn dark and harden, "I know perfectly well that I am the last of the originals."

    Cade pulls out his crossbow, and before the Queen can register an attack, he pulls the trigger. But as soon as the bolt cuts her skin, the blood wells up from her body and shatters it. Cade fires several times, but the blood covers her and hardens into a set of red armor.

    Kat winces as she says, "She must be an E3, we're not getting out of here without a fight."

    Cade looks at Kat and sees the pain written across her face, "Sit down Kat, you are in no condition to fight. I warned you this might happen, you should have gotten it fixed."

    Kat glares at him but unable to argue she collapses against the wall. Cade sighs and turns back to the battle-ready Alteration. Even though he's glad, Kat finally stopped pushing herself he knows this is going to be a very difficult battle without her help.

Purple Moon (HM38)

I will be traveling tomorrow so you get this weeks post today. This is also the last Half Moon segment and I'm getting excited. The Queen was a fun character to write (even with all her insane tendencies) so I hope you enjoy her.

Purple Moon

Half Moon 38

    Kat is overwhelmed with a sense of wrongness. Her instincts scream that this isn't the right person, and her head starts pounding. She tries to ignore it, but it only gets worse.

    "If you are the Queen then you must know why we're here," Cade says.

    The Queen chuckles, "You're here to do what you do best, blindly follow orders."

    "And those orders are to kill you," Kat speaks drawing her swords.

    The Queen covers her eyes as her shoulders shake from laughter. "You are idiots, all of you. You don't even know why you hunt us and yet you still do. You're just pawns in a grand plot."

    "What are you talking about?" Cade asks.

    She ignores him and continues talking, "And that's why it's ok if some of you die. Even if I didn't carry out my plan, you would all still be thrown away by your precious council."

    She looks back at them, her red eyes are tinged with madness, "But since you found me, I suppose it's fine if I kill you myself."

    "What are you planning?" Kat questions.

    "Why to attack of course," she responds straight face.

    Cade stares at her startled, he never thought there was an Alteration that would attack the City, but it seemed he was wrong. Cade throws his astonishment aside and tries to think of a way to warn the hunters at home.

    Before he can, the Queen speaks again, "Don't worry about trying to warn anyone. You won't make it time since it should be starting soon."

    "How can you do this?" Cade asks.

    The Alteration snorts in disgust, "Of course a hunter would ask that. You guys are so ignorant that it's sickening."
    Rage colors her tone, "What lie did they feed you. Did they say that we were abominations? Did they say we were born from a war? That's it isn't it, it sounds like something they would say." She stands and slaps her hand on her chest, "Well, I've got news for you. I wasn't born from a war! They turned me in to this like I was some kind of lab rat!"

Purple Moon (HM37)

Hello everyone we are nearing the end of the Half Moon segments so don't forget to comment what kind of story you want me to do next so I can plan it out.

Half Moon 37

    They approach the bottom of the mountain, and Kat observes the mountainside.

    "Any openings?" she asks.

    Cade looks at the mountain through his glasses, "Can't tell, there are some possibilities, though."

    "So if you were the Queen, where would you enter?"

    Cade thinks about the answer and walks around the side of the small mountain. Kat follows him to a little alcove. He slips between two rocks and vanishes. Kat shakes her head and follows him.

    Inside the air is damp and cool. It takes a moment for Kat's eyes to become used to the dark, but once they do, she can see a fairly good size cave. It takes Cade a bit longer to adjust, once he does Kat gives him an approving look.

    "So we can either go forward or back," Kat states.

    Cade nods, "That entrance wasn't formed naturally."

    "But it could be a dud," Kat counters.

    "Well, we'll never know unless we check," Cade says with a smile.

    Kat sighs and walks deeper into the cave with Cade following her. The cave turns into a pathway. That twists and turns leading into the darkness. After a while, Kat loses her sense of direction and can only keep moving forward.

    Suddenly they enter a big cavern with natural light coming in from the ceiling. The room is completely empty except for a big throne with a woman sitting on it. She has pure white hair and crimson-colored eyes.

    A blood Alteration.

    Cade glances at Kat, but her expression hasn't changed; she is only looking at the Alteration.

    "I commend you for making it this far, hunters. I really didn't think that any of you would make it," the Alteration says her voice light.

    Cade stares her in the eye, "Are you the one they call Queen?"

    Her eyes glitter, and her mouth curls into a smile, "I am."

Purple Moon (HM36)

Purple Moon

Half Moon 36 

    Kat is on her way out of the building when she runs into Jace and Maia.

    Cade sighs, "How unlucky are we."

    Kat rolls her eyes and turns her attention to Jace's smug look.

    Jace chuckles, "They finally let you move about again."

    Kat stares him in the eye, "Yes if you want, you can take my place."

    "No thanks, only people like you house sit."

    "The only reason we were house sitting is cause you were occupied with small fries."

    Maia takes a step forward, but Jace puts his hand on her shoulder, smiling, "At least we were doing work."

    Kat ignores the statement, "I thought you guys were out searching."

    Jace shrugs, "We were, but I heard Magus was planning on throwing a party so a lot of hunters, including us, came back."

    "You guys are packed to leave so I take it you won't be going to the little get-together," Jace observes.

    "No, we will be searching."

    "Good the party will be better without you, now if you'll excuse us, we need to make a report."

    Kat and Cade watch them leave. Then Kat continues for the exit, and Cade runs to catch up.

    "Do you think they found the queen?" He asks, relaxed.

    Kat shakes her head, "No, there would be more commotion if they did."

    Cade nods, "Where should we begin looking?"

    "A map can only tell us so much. Let's get a look at the real locations and figure it out from there. I downloaded the information on the map into our glasses so we should be able to avoid any unnecessary searches."

    Cade sighs and they come to their bikes. Cade and Kat leave, and there isn't any conversation until they come to the abandoned town they checked out with Adalia.

    "I've been thinking," Cade begins.

    "What about" Kat asks

    "This queen probably doesn't live in something she made or something that humans have abandoned, someone would have noticed the thing she made or the up keep of what ever she was living in"

    "Ok"

    "So she probably lives in something people wouldn't notice. But from her title and the way Alterations have talked about her, I don't think it is something small."

    "So underground or in a big natural structure"

    "Yes, I don't think she lives with many other Alterations either"

    Kat nods "I agree, but there aren't many natural structures that people don't notice"

    Cade sighs "True but this should at least narrow our search for the time being"

    They go silent as they look at the terrain around them overlaid with the colored lines of the map on the glasses.

    Halfway in between the two towns Kat stops "Cade?"

    Cade nods "Its a definite possibility"

    Kat stares at the small mountain. It seems out of place being to small and far enough from the mountain range behind it, but bigger then the hills around it.

Stories

    Hay everyone, is there a story/genre you want me to try out next. I know I'm not done with this one yet but if I don't start thinking about what I will do next, I will end up not posting for a week once this one is done. And I don't think anyone wants that.

    Anyway, comment if you want a boy or girl main character, I am better at girl protagonists but I've done some boys. if it should be about werewolves, vampires, psychics or something else. If it should be on Earth, in another dimension, a different world, ect.

    I've been thinking about broadening one of the short stories/novella I write when I'm bored or need to get my creativity out so I can sleep at night. Or using one of my dreams. I will list them so if you can't think of anything feel free to choose from that list.

• Distopian Vampire (this one would be a collective stories of several vampires that have the same sire)
• Dragons (would be short)
• Unsealed fire magician/spirit/princess (I'm not really sure what she is but she does control fire)
• Futuristic Video Game
• Vampire (this one being an urban fantasy with the protagonist out for revenge)
• Protector/Guardian (Not sure how to describe this one....non human chosen people that protect others....maybe)
• Magic, evil dragon (kid goes on a quest to save his sister)
• Abyss (This one will be a remake of a short story, rather dark)
• Collective consciousness (only in the though stage at the moment but it would kind of be psychic/esper thing with thoughts)

You guys don't really have to chose right now but do it SOON.
