Purple Moon
Half Moon 8
When Kat wakes, Cade is not back, and her headache is gone. She dresses in what Adalia would consider would be a proper day clothing: a red corset shirt with capped sleeves and a red-violet long skirt. She goes downstairs to the study and sits down at the piano. She plays a song from memory one she didn't know she knew until notes appeared in her head. The tune was gentle but strong, there was a tinge of sadness mixed in with the beautiful song. She easily lost herself in the melody and didn't realize someone had entered and was listening until they started clapping.
She jumps slightly and then smiles when she sees its Heath.
"I'm sorry, I knocked, but no one answered so I just let myself in," He says apologetically.
"That's alright; you just startled me." Kat stands, "What can I do for you, Mr. Walker?"
Kat notices that he's nervous, "Well, my wife wanted to know if you and your brother wanted to come to dinner tonight. She said she knows that he doesn't like you to cook so..."
He trails off, and Kat smiles sure that there was more to the invitation. "Thank you for the invite, but it just wouldn't be right if you didn't have dinner here first. If she wants to have dinner tonight, I can whip something up she can even help me if she wants to."
He nods, and she shows him out before making a little tea. Soon after Heath leaves Cade comes back. She pours him some tea, and they move into the upstairs sitting room. She notices he has a paper from the City.
"How is the town."
"Small, I have yet to hear of any gossip or rumors about an Alteration."
"They should turn up soon enough. We are living in a house that once belonged to one of its victims. I don't think the town wants to tell us just yet."
He sighs, "It's quite boring here."
Kat raises an eyebrow, "I am surprised that you would say that, it's not like you do anything at home. But you have a point compared to hunting this life is slow and dull."
He opens the paper, "There haven't been any more Alteration attacks, and they haven't told the public that there are Alterations that speak."
"They wouldn't want to cause a panic. By the way, Heath came over."
"What did he want?"
She shrugs, "He said he came over to invite us to dinner, but I doubt that was his real reason."
Cade nods, only half listening, "So what did you say?"
"I said no then invited them for dinner if Patty comes early I'll dump most of the work on her. The only I know how to make is City food, and we are supposed to have never seen the City."
He nods again, "Alright, the sooner we get in this community, the sooner we can leave."
Kat agrees with a grunt, "I suppose I should start on the food before I have to change into one of those horrid evening dresses. I can never understand why people must wear so many outfits in one day."
Cade chuckles then says sarcastically, "But you look so lovely in those gowns."
Kat glares at him, "You look like a puffed-up bird in yours."
He stops smiling, thinking about wearing his evening attire, "It's only one family, maybe we shouldn't wear them we wouldn't want to look over fancy."
Kat agrees then leaves to start food before either one of them could rethink their choice.
