Calypso's Rage

I surveyed the crowd, men and women dressed in fancy outfits talked politely. My own dress fit in with all the others but it felt containing and I wondered how women could stand these things day after day. The electric lights glared down on me making me even more uncomfortable, I had half a mind to jump out the nearest window into the darkness of the night but I had to a job to do.
I looked around again and spotted a man looking at me. I smiled nicely and he walked over to me.
"Good evening, sir" I said he was well dressed but not extremely so
"I suppose it would be if I didn't have to be here." He commented and I raised an eyebrow in surprise. He chuckled, "I couldn't help but notice how uncomfortable you looked. Was I wrong in thinking that you were of the same mind as me."
"Not at all, I was just contemplating tossing myself out the nearest window when you approached."
He laughed, "Then would you like to join me out on the balcony, Ms......."
"Cassidy," I said, "And I would love to."
"Well then Ms. Cassidy." He offered me his hand and I took it lightly
He lead me away from the dreaded lights and into the cool night air.
Once outside I asked "What are you doing here, sir, if you don't like parties."
"I was invited by a friend of mine and I needed to talk to him about the sea predictions for the next couple of days."
"Oh you're a merchant?"
"Yes, I need to take some cargo to one of the bigger island, and it seems like tonight is the best night."
Bingo. I smiled, "Would you mind if I come, I was here trying to find a ride and it seems that your leaving the sooner then my scheduled ride."
"Where are you planning to go?"
"Home. I've been traveling for a while now and its about time I went back."
"There's a fog about tonight so the pirates should have a hard time finding us." He muttered to him self before turning to me and saying "If you don't mind the company of sailors then I would be happy to take you."
"Its a deal then." I said
